Yes Minister!! No Fanaa

A gnawing sense of restlessness had taken over as the reality of Fanaa not being released in Gujarat took on actuality.

Were Indians in danger of being dictated to by the poilitical parties as to what we should be viewing? Was this a decision taken by the majority of the populace of Gujarat ? Or were they too chicken to oppose it? Was cultural policing also going to be the mantle of politicians? And finally where will it end?

It was bad enough that Aamir Khans stand had been misconstrued, manipulated and intentionally sensationalised to rationalise the extreme uproar by the politicians. But to hit out professionally for the sole purpose of demonstrating clout is unaccceptable.

It is time that we make it amply clear to the Politicians "Minister Saab..run the country ..not my life!"

Mahesh bhatt has filed a PIL in the Supreme court to this effect.

Being blackmailed into accepting a Hitler-ish stand point , would have sounded the death knell of any star participation in social causes. which would have been a pity. After all, lets face it, their word holds value and their presence gives weightage to an issue. Why penalise a celebrity for trying to make a difference in whatever manner he/she deems fit?

It is quite exasperating to envision an India where we are outwardly modern, emancipated, well on the shores of development..yet a prey to the machinations of political agendas.

Where are the so-called "young turks" of our political scenario? Is their silence a clue as to the power that is wielded by the bosses who matter in Gujarat, or is it not politically correct(pun intended) to grant their visage and vocals to a cause which imperils just a Film?

all over the web there is evidence of this gujju fanaticism. They seem to be enjoying what is happening there..fair enough. The rest of India will soon learn to view them in a mnner indians enjoy.. outcasts..the new breed

can we please ignore the people who need the shield of anonymity...
my gut feeling says that this is an adolescent who is getting kicks out of posting in a grown up blog...
so lets read on...
hopefully he/she will soon find some other distraction...

Now that hrithik has spoken will Krrish and Kank get banned too??

If that happens, only then will the people at large realise what is the modus operandi of the bigwigs in power...

silbil we can ignore one anonymous here. But even in London there are a huge lot of Gujus who appear inwardly smug ..ofcourse there are a number who are disgusted at the fate of having now been clubbed as a gujju..but it cannot be wished away.

Mahesh bhatt is quite a dude! atleast somebody had the balls!

hey guys,

Frankly,I am appalled at the turn of events. Quite a claustrophobic feeling if you ask me. One has the option of using a shrug and a grimace with a 'no big deal' blank stare ahead. But try as I may.. somehow not quite getting up to it. Free India.. really??

what you guys told anonymous is so true.. but like silbil said.. move on.He is probably an adolescent having fun with his newly found speakability(is that a word?). But silbil, also what double barrel said made me shake my head in affirmation. These and others are a reality, a sad one. I sense a lot of hatred from that part of India. Can we make it go away?

If the Supreme court ruling goes in favour of the producers of the film, further deterioration of this fanatical obsession with self righteousness will get arrested..or atleast one hopes.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely .. so said Lord Acton aeons ago. At no age could this ever get negated. Only intensifies with time.

Hi dim poetry,

yes, that is the frustration every thinking individual is up against as of now..Whither democracy?

But you know analytically speaking, we are all to blame somewhere..we as the voting public, who do not vote..me includeed. Sometimes the choices before me are like falling between two stools. so have desisted totally.

But if we get the govts we deserve, then..

And about this being a biggy blog. No such thing really. In fact if you scroll through ,plenty of my posts have to do with scenario among youth and their problems. I am surrounded by them most of the time .And hey barely out of my teens meself;)..kidding..

What silbil might have meant is the mental age and maturity of responses.

Age has little to do with any of that. You are a happy example of it. Whod believe you are an adolescent? Bright, focussed and sharp..and a concerned and aware individual.Keep it up and keep coming:)
